I knew Tyson for over a decade, beginning when I was 14. It was a pleasure to stop and chat with him on the stoops of the Metro grocery store on sunny summer days, where we would talk about life and music. He was a warm individual, leaving a positive impact on those he interacted with.
One day, he gave me a MP3 player he acquired and asked me to fill it up with all of his favourite reggae classics. He loved Ken Boothe and Gregory Isaacs just as much as he embraced the new generation.
I had gone a while without seeing him on his corner and grew concerned, until one day at the Reggae Festival in 2014, I ran into him in the audience. He was there working with family and seemed to be in a really good place, I was elated.
I will miss Mr. Wallace dearly. He was a beacon of light who I have nothing but great memories with.
