Obituary
Matthew Thomas Carere January 18, 1984 – November 18, 2022
With profound heartbreak and immense sorrow we share the news of the unexpected passing of Matthew.
Matt passed away in the arms of his family on the18th of November, two months short of his 39th birthday. After suffering a cardiac arrest on November 15 Matt held on to life for three days in the intensive care unit of Ross Memorial Hospital allowing time for his family to intensely demonstrate their love to him as they
held vigil by his side.
Son of Helen and Marc Carere. Brother to Emily (Shawn), Dominique (Will), Andrew (Dusti Rose) and Luke (deceased 2020). Known as Zio, he was the cherished uncle of Annabella, Cosmo, Sophia and Jessica.
Matt leaves behind his Grandmother Madeleine, Aunt Paula, a revered confident and constant thread throughout his life, and a wonderfully loving and supportive extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends of all ages.
Predeceased by brother Luke, grandparents Gus & Vera (Solowska M.D.) Duane, and grandfather Romulus Carere M.D.
We are privileged to have traveled this journey with Matt. He was kind and generous to a fault. Renown for being sweet and generous with his huge heart of gold and pure, unfiltered and unconditional love of family and friends. Matt doted over his nieces and nephew and was deservedly loved by all children. His life was accented by acute sense of adventure, mischief and humour. These are traits we will remember him by and emulate in his honour.
Although we have been blindsided by this sudden loss we take solace in thinking that Matt is reunited with his loving brother Luke. Together they will watch over us and be our guardian angels.
We extend special thank you to all of the incredible nurses at Ross Memorial that where so professionally attentive to Matthew and supported us through this experience. At the risk of missing some we name Rebecca, Shannon and Molly from ICU. All nurses were gentle caring and compassionate and made those difficult days much more tolerable.
A closing message from our family;
After experiencing this loss of Mathew only two short years after the passing of Luke we feel enfranchised to remind all how quickly life can change and how fragile it can be. Please, take a few seconds to think of those you love. Be kind to and supporting of one another. Be patient and accepting of those you don’t understand. Hug the ones you love. Our time together is fleeting.
Friends and family will gather, Friday November 25th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre. 19 Moose Road, Lindsay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday November 26 at 1:00pm. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 40 Russell Street East, Lindsay.
All are welcome to attend a reception which will follow at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre, where great stories and memories will be shared.
If desired, a donation to Canadian Blood Services in Matt’s memory would be appreciated by our family.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Matthew Carere January 18 1984 November 18 2022 (age 38)..
