Obituary of Fred McGonegal
Fred “Ted” or “McGoo” as he was sometimes called passed peacefully on November 19, 2022 at the Van Horne Retirement Residence in Smiths Falls at the age of 90. Predeceased by his beloved wife Lila Florence McGonegal (nee Sample) of 60 years; his infant son Willard Lee McGonegal; his parents Harold and Dorothy McGonegal; as well as his sisters Marion Bullis (the late Roy), and Wayne McGonegal. Fred was the cherished father and friend to his children Kerry (Eric) and Kevin (Maureen); treasured grandpa to Rebecca, Sarah, and Nicklaus (Lindsay), and great-grandpa to Paige, Colby, Mateo, and Jack. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Lois Kelford (the late Jim), and Bill McGonegal (Irene), as well as his brother-in-law Glenn Sample (Vivian), and all his many extended family. Fred’s friendship will be missed by all his fellow golfers and bowlers, and of course, his fellow Sens fans. Friends and colleagues will also remember him for his 40+ years of hard work with CP Rail. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to the Blair & Son Funeral Home (112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls) on Saturday November 26, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for visitation. The family requests that guests arrive in casual attire, or in their favourite Sens gear. A funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery with a reception to follow back at the Blair & Son Reception Centre for fellowship and refreshment. If desired, memorial donations may be made to either the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) or to the Junior Program at the Smiths Falls Golf & Country Club.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Fred
