Eleanor Elizabeth Zwicker 2022

Eleanor’s Obituary
ZWICKER, Eleanor Elizabeth ~ Age 90, of South Berwick, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, on August 8, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Douglas and Gabrielle (Scotney) Rafuse. Eleanor spent her life caring for others working as a caregiver at the Grand View Manor for over 30 years, where she made lifelong friends. She cared for her friends and family in so many ways. Her home was always welcoming to family and friends for her delicious meals. She loved to cook and is well known for her cookie, pies, bread and preserves. Her pantry was always full, and her heart was full as well if she could serve you tea, snacks or a meal. Eleanor and Gordon were soulmates and rarely spent time apart. The loss of Gordon left her heartbroken, and she found it difficult to go on in life without him. They are now united in peace. Her grandsons Lee and Jeffrey each have special memories of their time spent with Nana and Papa and they each have special memories of their times they spent with the boys. She and Papa were very proud of them and the men they have become. Even though Nakia grew up in Calgary she was very close to her Gram and Papa and loved her visits in summer a tradition she has continued into her adult life with her family. Randy her son had a very loving close bond with his mom, and each showing their love by caring for the other whenever needed. She was a devoted member of Berwick Baptist Church. Eleanor belonged to a close-knit neighbourhood. Eleanor’s was the tea and cookie capital of the neighbourhood which she shared with one of her dearest friends Charlotte. Eleanor was most fortunate to have met Dianna White at a time in her life when she needed care herself. Dianna and Eleanor bonded and loved each other immediately and Dianna was like a guardian angel for Eleanor. Eleanor is survived by her devoted son, Randy (Sheila) Veinotte; daughter, Karen Veinotte, both of Berwick; step son-in-law, Terry Moore, Springhill; grandchildren, Nakia (Mark) Bedry, Calgary, Alta; Lee Veinotte (Kristy), Cambridge; Jeffrey Veinotte (Cayla), Factorydale; great grandchildren, Grace, Jack and Ellery Bedry, all of Calgary, Alta.; sister, Pauline (Allison) Eisnor, Cambridge; brother, Allison Rafuse, Kingston; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Gordon L. “Gordie” Zwicker; stepdaughter, Muriel “Boopie” Moore; sister, Marina Lutz. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, in Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Andrew Conrad and Rev.
