Obituary
GHESQUIERE, Georgette Julie (nee Notte) – The sun rose April 15th 1932, the sun set November 11th, 2022. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother Georgette Ghesquiere with family by her side. Georgette was born in Waarschoot, Belgium on April 15th, 1932 and lived most of her life in the Simcoe Area, almost two years ago she made the big move to St. Thomas. This feisty 90-year young woman kept everyone around her smiling with her sense of humour, caring nature and enjoyed a good glass of wine with her many friends. She is survived by her daughters Doreen Jensen and Debbie Ghesquiere. The true joys of her life were her grandchildren Jenn (Matt) and Eric (Sonia). She was predeceased by her husband Robert (2013), her son-in-law Oscar Jensen (2018) and her faithful four-legged friend Ally. She was the last remaining member of her family. Georgette leaves behind nieces., nephews and many friends and neighbours in St. Thomas, neighbours of 48 years on Berkley Crescent in Simcoe as well as family in Belgium who meant the world to her. Georgette had the benefit of amazing doctors during her lifetime. Her family Dr. William Thorogood was a godsend, her gifted surgeons, Dr. Olssen in Simcoe and Dr. Bottoni in St. Thomas and her oncologists over the years are owed a debt of gratitude. She beat cancer 8 times! To the staff over the years at Juravisnki Hospital, Thank You! To St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, surgical floor and ICU, your compassion and caring was amazing. On her behalf we ask that each time you raise a glass of wine or a nice cold beer, you think of her.
