Obituary
Doreen Mae Lacourse, resident of Lacombe Alberta. Former resident of Grimshaw passed away after a long and courageous battle of cancer on October 29, 2022 at the age of 74 years in Lacombe.
Doreen was born in Grande Prairie on September 12, 1948. She was the oldest child of Thomas and Irene Duperron. She had younger siblings sister Rosemarie and brother Wayne.
Doreen was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was adored by all that knew her and made a very lasting impression on everyone who got to be around her. Family and friends were very important to Doreen.
Doreen was always a passionate, welcoming and charming person. She had a endless wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all.
Doreen was raised in Peace River, Alberta where she attended school. However, school was not for her and she quit at an early age. After quitting school, she married Maurice Lacourse and had 4 children, Wendy, Jeanette, Annmarie and Vern where they resided in the Grimshaw area. Doreen was a housewife, mother, farmer and daycare provider until the kids were teenagers. At this time she pursued work out the home as a flagperson and housekeeper. In 1992, Maurice and Doreen sold the farm and moved to Central Alberta where they became snowbirds. In 2015 after they lost their son they relocated from the acreage with Vern to the Lacombe area where she resided until her death. When Doreen was diagnosed with cancer Maurice surprised her with ” Shadow” her compassion dog whom she loved deeply.
Her passions were reading, gardening, bingo, camping, painting, coloring and working with her flowers.
She enjoyed traveling to numerous International destinations with Maurice and her children. Doreen was always very happy when she was in the presence of her family she loved to facetime and phone everyone daily.
Doreen is predeceased by her son Vernon Lacourse, both her parents and sister Rosemarie Lacourse.
She is survived and lovingly missed by her husband Maurice, and daughters Wendy (Kevin) Holt, Jeanette (Rob) Blakley, Annmarie (Dave) Huybregts and brother Wayne (Penni) Duperron. She is
survived by 8 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. As well as Maurice’s family Jeannette (Wes) Jones, Don (Kelly) Lacourse, numerous extended family and an abundance of friends.
A Celebration of Life for Doreen will be held in 2023, where she will be laid to rest with her son Vernon Lacourse in Falher, Alberta. Announcements will be made at a later date.
