John’s Obituary
CARDIFF, John Edwin – An eighth-generation resident of Norfolk County, died at his home in Simcoe, on his 77th birthday, Friday 28 Oct 2022. Survived by life-long friend Jo (Rennie) Weitzel, her family, and cousins, he was predeceased by his father Wilfred Leask Cardiff (2003), mother Marion Elizabeth Jackson (2009), sister Ellen Jeannette (1981), and too many friends.
John graduated SCS (1966) and the University of Western Ontario (1972). A freelance business and technology writer, he edited Ontario Milk Producer magazine (1976-1982), wrote Farming & The Computer (Four Seasons Publishing, Seattle, 1985), edited Computing Canada’s Micro Report (1986-1988), edited Arthur Fuller’s Dynamics of Clipper (1988), and established Computing Canada Online telecommunication system (1988-1990).
Retiring to Port Ryerse in 1992, John established the Norfolk Genealogy web site in 1996, expanding it until 2019. He also developed web sites for RDS Data Group Inc., Norfolk Historical Society, Norfolk Sports Hall of Recognition, and St. James United Church.
