Obituary: Cyril Galvin Jenkins (1937-2022)
Cyril passed away peacefully at Losier Hall on October 25, 2022, at the age of 85. Born in Chatham, he was the son of the late James Jenkins and Sarah Daigle and the husband of the late Zélia Manuel. He was a river pilot for the Miramichi river for over 30 years and of the Port of Dalhousie for 16 years. He will be sadly missed by his three children: Ivan (Tanya) of Dalhousie, Charline (Paul Thébeau) of Dieppe and Shawn (Cindy) of Fort MacMurray; his three cherished grandchildren: Joshua, Sarah, and Hannah; his brothers Blaine (Lillian) of Nelson, Maynard of Bathurst, Floyd (Cathy) of Maine, Gary (Cindy) of Miramichi and his sisters Gloria of Campbellton and Sheila (Gordon) of Miramichi; and numerous nephews, nieces and godchildren. He is predeceased by his sisters Marina and Macrina.
Active pallbearers are France Manuel, Pierre Doucet, Chris Burden, Rick MacDougall, Etienne Manuel, Bernard Manuel. Honorary pallbearers are Vincent Daigle, Alphonse Doucet, Everett Doucet, Yvon Manuel and Cyril Manuel
Cyril is resting at the Salon Soeur Blandine Martin Slumber room in Baie Ste-Anne on Friday, October 28th from 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday from 9 am to the time of the funeral. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29th at 11 am from St Anne Roman Catholic Church in Baie Ste-Anne with Fr Joseph Thiong officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Maher’s Funeral Home Miramichi, NB.
