It is with great sadness that the family of Gaile Kolisnyk announces her passing on September 30, 2022 at the age of 79. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Wayne; her children, Candace (Ross) and Greg; her grandchildren, Scott and Grayson; brother Gary (Lorraine) and countless other family and friends.
Gaile was born on October 15th, 1942 to Harry and Mary Selk. She grew up in the north end of Winnipeg with her 3 brothers Tony, Lloyd and Gary. She enjoyed being part of a large extended family and was especially close with her cousin, Marge. While working at Baker and Sons, Gaile met Wayne Kolisnyk. They were married on June 20, 1964. They welcomed their daughter, Candace in 1970 and son, Greg in 1974.
Until her children were grown, Gaile stayed at home. She loved taking care of her family. During this time she enjoyed being a school volunteer, curling at the Charleswood curling club, honing her Scrabble skills and trying her hand at many crafts. Once her children left home, Gaile went back to school to get her Administrative Technology certificate and subsequently began working at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. She enjoyed her work there and her co-workers and stayed in contact with many of them after her retirement. In recent years, she loved the time she spent with her YMCA senior’s group and the time she spent keeping in touch with many friends and relatives via Facebook.
Gaile’s greatest joy was her family. She especially cherished the close relationship she had with her grandsons. Gaile was known for her big heart and being a great listener, drawing others in with her warmth. She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
Into the freedom of wind and sunshine
We let you go
Into the dance of the stars and the planets
We let you go
Into the wind’s breath and the hands of the star-maker
We let you go
We love you, we miss you, we want you to be happy
Go safely, go dancing, go running home.
