Ronald Gerard King 1954 2022

RONALD GERARD
KING
September 22, 1954 –
October 23, 2022
It is with shock and heartbreak that we announce the passing
of our beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and
friend.
Ron is predeceased by his parents George and Marie King,
stepmother Angela, and his siblings Marie, Philip, and Mary
Eileen. Also predeceased by his in-laws Ronald and Florence
Lannon, Harry Lannon, Ronald Lannon Jr., Mary Valerie Lannon, Francis
McCue and John McCue.
Ron leaves to mourn his wife of 36 years Sandra (Lannon), and
their two children Marie and Ronald – his two favourite people in the
world. He always joked that Sandra lost her spot as his
favourite when the children were born.
Also devastated by his loss are his sisters Ann (Val)
Griffiths, Carmel (Hayward) Russell, and Doris (Donald) Bowering; and
his brothers Ray and Frank.
Also leaving to mourn are his extended family who welcomed
him into the family in 1986. He will be sorely missed by the
Lannon Family George (Rosalind), Elaine McCue (Francis, deceased),
Carmel, Barbara Horwood (Ernie), Eugene, Brian, Albert, Norma Lambros
(Nick), and Tom (Missy).
Ron also leaves a large circle of friends, especially his
Buddy Wilf and Mary Lannon, Sandra Ward, Alex Hartson, and all his
many nieces and nephews, most of them almost like his children – he
was a surrogate dad to Luke, Emily, Valerie, Marlene, Clara and
John.
Ron was an avid gardener and loved to share his bounty with
his many friends and relatives. He was a car lover,
bordering on obsession; Ron was able to identify the year, make and
model of most cars with just a glimpse of the tail lights.
He always wished for a muscle car to share with his family and once he
bought the car, you could not wipe the smile from his face when he was
in the driver’s seat of his 1972 OLDS 442 Cutlass Supreme
Convertible.
Ron began his career at ERCO Long Harbour at the age of 17,
and over the years he travelled many places for work. He
ended his 43 year working career at the Come by Chance Oil Refinery in
April 2015. Though Ron loved everything that retirement
brought, he still had contact with many of the friends he worked with
over the years.
Ron was always full of laughs. His tormenting and
teasing were somewhat of a sport to him. He thoroughly
enjoyed Happy Hour at the Club and in particular the banter about the
LEAFS and the HABS. We are happy to report that the Leafs
won on Saturday night, he only watched the first
period.
We will love and cherish him always.
