Clarke Abick Tuesday October 18th 2022

It is with immense sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Clarke Abick on October 18, 2022 at the TBRHSC with his loving family by his side.
Clarke was born on May 17, 1963 in Fort William to June and Hal Abick. He spent most of his summers at Sparrow Lake, ON with his siblings and grandparents. While growing up, Clarke liked building treehouses and tinkering with go-carts and motor bikes. He loved his rock music and learned to play the guitar at a young age, starting with Hotel California.
In 1983 Clarke travelled to southern Ontario and completed a 5-year Steamfitter Apprentice Program at George Brown College and became a member of Local 853 Sprinkler Fitters of Ontario.
During a 30-year career with Vipond, Clarke installed life-saving fire protection systems in industrial and commercial buildings throughout Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario. These installations included paper mills, mines, senior complexes, as well as the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and the Thunder Bay District Court House.
After retiring at the age of 55, Clarke enjoyed leisurely country rides on his motorcycle, enjoying nature. He also worked part time at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium and Bill Martin’s Nurseryland. Last year Clarke became the proud owner of his fur baby Pookie, whom he loved dearly.
Clarke loved life to the fullest. He was always a kid at heart and had a gentle, sensitive soul.
Clarke will be lovingly remembered by Cathy, his partner of 28 years; his mother June; his sisters Tracy (and her daughters) and Joan (Rick); his brother Scott (Jolene); his sisters-in-law Marilyn (Hutch), Marisa (John), and Rosemary (Sabi); and his brothers-in-law Billie (Katharine) and Michael (Donna). Also left with many fond memories are aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and so many great friends.
Clarke was predeceased by his father Hal, his mother-in-law Helen Martin, and his brother-in-law Paul Martin.
Services will be held at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., with livestreaming via Sargent & Son Facebook page. He will be laid to rest in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either the United Way of Thunder Bay or to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society.

“You never said I’m leaving.
You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.
In life I loved you dearly;
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
that no one will ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
but you didn’t go alone.
For a part of me went with you
the day God took you home.”
