It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald Smith, of Mount Hope, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the St. Joseph’s Long-Term Care Home in Brantford, Ontario. Beloved husband of Barbara Louise Smith (2017). Dedicated father to Diane Louise Murray (Smith) and Wayne Alexander Smith (Patti). Proud grandfather of Joshua Smith (Ashley), Jeremy Smith (predeceased), Meagan Smith (Andrew) and Patrick Murray (Julia). He will be fondly remembered by his great grandchildren Dakota and Novia Smith and Hadley and Jameson Murray. Predeceased by his father, Andrew Kenneth Smith and mother, Ada Smith. Ronald will also be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law, Olive Hannah, and his many nieces, nephews and friends. Ronald was a hard working man of great strength and fortitude, who continued to work the generational farm properties on Glancaster Road in Mount Hope, while at the same time being a loyal, long time employee of Dofasco until retirement Always on the go, he still found the time to volunteer in the Mount Hope/Caledonia Minor Hockey Association. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Barton Stone-Mount Hope United Church, Dates and times to be announced. As an expression of sympathy, donations to either the Alzheimer Society or St. Joseph’s Lifecare Foundation (99 Wayne Gretzky Parkway, Brantford, Ontario N3S 6T6) would be appreciated by the family.
