Sydney
It is with very sad hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Peter MacInnis on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family.
Born on December 22, 1950, in Glace Bay, Peter was the son of the late Peter and Alice (Burke) MacInnis.
Peter had a great childhood growing up in Steel’s Hill where he was known as ‘Petsie’ to close friends and family. Peter was an electrician by trade and worked for Sydney Steel until it’s closure and his retirement.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley (Went) MacInnis; daughters, whom he was very proud of, Lisa Epifano (Dominic), Melody Slade (Les) and Kimberly; precious grandchildren, Justin, Mikayla and Rayah; siblings, Sheila Geddes (Raymond), Patricia Carocci (Gerald deceased), Gloria Ryan (Don deceased), and Chis McInnis (Ruth); as well as many nieces and nephews. Peter will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his good friend, Ronnie Burke with whom he shared many adventures. We invite everyone to raise a glass of rum to Peter and think of him with fond memories.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff, Dr. Saliba and the VON for their exceptional care of Peter in his time of need.
There will be no visitation for the late Peter MacInnis. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will be held in St. Anthony Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Donations in memory of Peter may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of MacINNIS Peter Lawrence 2022..
