Tributes
Griesbach, Peter Robert
Peacefully after a short battle with cancer, and a life well-lived, on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Peter was born in Saint John, NB, October 22,1936 to Robert and Jean Griesbach. After living briefly in Montreal, he moved to Toronto and graduated from Leaside High School in 1956, then went on to study mechanical engineering at the University of New Brunswick.
In 1961, he followed his father’s footsteps in joining The Foundation Company (Lavalin) as a marine draftsman, where he worked on projects such as the Irving Oil Wharf, the Hibernia Oil Platform, and the Prince Edward Island Causeway. In 1990, Pete left Lavalin and pursued his interests of gardening, sketching, and birding. An avid letter writer, he maintained correspondence with friends, family, and fellow birding and gardening enthusiasts across the country. In 2001, Mary and Peter moved to Osgoode, to be closer to their growing family of grandchildren.
Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his daughter Jennifer (Missy); son Jeff (Ronda); and grandchildren Peter, James, and Adam.
Friends are invited to a visitation at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Dr., Kars on Tuesday, October 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 11 a.m.
Those wishing may make memorial donations to the United Church of Canada Mission and Service Fund.
