With much love, the family of Ambrose Murphy mourns and announces his death on October 11, 2022, following a lengthy illness. Ambrose fought for life with everything he had till the very end. It is hard to imagine how to move forward without him in our lives.
Ambrose was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Mary (nee Doyle). He is survived by his three sons, Ted (Cathy), Raymond (Caroline) and Patrick (Erin). He will be greatly missed by his brother Jim (Rita, deceased), and his grandchildren Juliet, Abby, Jae, Joseph, James, and Anna.
Ambrose was predeceased by his siblings, Mary (Ed Payne), Catherine (George Merry), Margaret (Pat Slack), and Joe (Brenda). Ambrose also had close ties with Mary’s siblings, Teresa (Bernie Taschereau), Roger (Carmen), Patricia, and the late Doreen (Ed Muldoon).
Ambrose was a social worker, a public servant, a youth athletics volunteer many times over, a husband, a father, a father-in-law, and a grandfather. His wit with a one-liner was legendary. But, at his core, Ambrose was a golfer. He was a long-time member at Kanata Lakes and then the Mississippi Golf Club, and travelled extensively to play, including in Scotland, Ireland, and Australia. His greatest golf travel, though, was many winters spent playing golf with Mary near their home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His most cherished rounds were ultimately those that he and Mary played with their sons.
Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 2-4 and 6:30-8:30pm. A funeral service will be celebrated, also at the West Chapel, on Wednesday, October 19 at 1pm. Reception to immediately follow the funeral service at the Kanata Golf and Country Club, 7000 Campeau Drive, Kanata.
