Obituary of Marie Teresa Dunleavy
Marie Teresa Dunleavy, nee Davies 02/12/36 – 01/11/22
Peacefully passed away on January 11th, 2022 at Lakeridge Hospital Oshawa after a short battle as the result of a stroke. Marie was the beloved wife of the late Wilfred James Dunleavy (d. 2002), the loving mother of Carole (Barry), Philip (Julie), Julie (Stan) and Lisa (Darren) She had 10 wonderful grandchildren – Adam, Matthew (Karina), Danielle, Brittany (Mike), Nathan (Nicole), Jamie (Hannah), Ryan (Christina), Holly (Bradley), Jessica, Ethan and 4 amazing great-grandchildren, Kaci, Brooke, Penelope, George. All of whom she loved dearly. She leaves behind her twin sister, Vera Clark, her brother -in-law, Norman Clark and many nieces and nephews all of whom reside in England.
We were so blessed when Mum emigrated to Canada from her hometown of St Helens, Merseyside to be with us. She settled so wonderfully into her new, and very first apartment in Oshawa. She made many friends in her time there and was often out – having lunch, on Fun Bus trips far and wide, seeing a movie or a musical etc. These past years – before Covid – were full of new experiences and excitement for her and we thank her special friends, Judy, Pat, and the late Annie, for their love, attention and encouragement to Mum. She truly loved you all.
We will miss you Mum forever and a day, but are eternally grateful for every precious moment we had you in our lives.
Catholic mass will be held at 11 am on January 27th, 2022 at St Gertrude’s Catholic church in Oshawa, followed by a private cremation.
Proof of vaccination is required as are masks or face coverings. A celebration of life will be organised when current restrictions allow.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made, if desired, to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marie Teresa Dunleavy 2022..
