It is with deepest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Isabelle Pyke Armstrong on Wednesday, 12th of January at St Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, with her two daughters at her bedside. Isabelle was
pre-deceased in 2006 by her wonderful husband of 53 years, Rev. Alfred Armstrong and her infant son, Paul, in 1956. Rev and Mrs Armstrong leave two daughters – Esther, widow of Professor Angus Hawkins of Oxford, England, and Cynde, wife of Douglas Wiles of Welland. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, Emma and Kate Hawkins of London, England, two grandsons, Jeffrey and Nathan Wiles, and her three great grandchildren, Dylan Wiles and Ryder & Aubrey Wiles.
Isabelle was born and raised in a large and loving family on her beloved Prince Edward Island. She married Rev. Alfred Armstrong in 1953 and they had 53 years of happiness together. She was a member of The Church of the Nazarene from her teens where she was an energetic and tireless worker with youth and children organizing children’s summer camps, vacation bible schools, children’s meetings and a lifetime of Sunday School teaching both in Canada and the United States.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Boyle and the Palliative Care Team at St Joseph’s Hospital. Donations to the Mountain Church of the Nazarene or St Joseph’s Hospital in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, 26th of January 2022, at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Avenue, Hamilton, followed by a Funeral service at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Warren Ohio at 2:00 on Friday, 28th of January. For those wishing to attend services you must RSVP through the link below or by calling 905-388-4141. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be in place. Although our numbers are strictly limited due to COVID restrictions, at a future date when restrictions are eased there will be a memorial service to celebrate Isabelle’s life.
