Carol A Rankmore 2022

Carol Ann Rankmore passed away peacefully, at Spruce Lodge on September 25, 2022 surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her husband David Rankmore, parents Ann and Steve Gurba and sister-in-law Kim Gurba. Survived by her brothers Ron (Karen), Glenn (Mary) and Ken Gurba.
Carol was born in Brandon Manitoba. She was a survivor of childhood polio and later wrote a book (Polio Child), detailing her story.
She received an honours B.A. in English from the University of Manitoba. In Manitoba she was an English teacher in Steinbach and Winnipeg, and a vice- principal in the The Pas.
Carol retired to Stratford Ontario due to her love of the Stratford Festival.
She opened a B&B (Hamlet and Eggs) for five years. Carol was an active volunteer with the Stratford Festival. She was also an outspoken advocate and activist for Dying with Dignity Canada and served on its Disability Advisory Council.
In later years Carol developed Alzheimer disease.
When she required some extra support she chose River Gardens retirement residence. As her disease progressed she entered Spruce Lodge for nursing care.
The family would like to thank her devoted friends, who gave her joy in life.
We would also like to thank Dr. Glass, Dr. Peel and Dr. Thompson for their wonderful care. And thanks to the staff at Spruce Lodge for their exceptional supportive care.
