Shirley Abernethy Thursday September 29 2022

Shirley Jean Abernethy (NEE Hubbert) entered into rest with her daughter, Ruth, by her side, at 6:50 am, on September 29th, 2022, in Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. She had been the beloved wife of the late Alexander (Sandy) Abernethy for 67 years. Shirley will be dearly missed by her children, Ellen Abernethy, Glen Abernethy & Yvonne Carroll, Ruth Abernethy & Mark Smyth, and Jean Abernethy, and by her grandchildren, Owen Hadley & Amanda Goncalves, Avory Hadley & Matt Beatty, Dana Abernethy & Patrick Antonio, Aimee Abernethy, Nicholas Abernethy, Glen & Darling Smyth, Alex & Cassandra Smyth, Ben Hubers, and Paul Hubers. Her great-granddaughter, Elysia Holly Smyth (born June 3rd, 2022) will hear stories of her remarkable life for years to come. Our family expresses gratitude to hospital staff for exceptional, professional and compassionate care. Rest in peace, Shirley. If desired, memorial donations to Autism Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made through Mackey Funeral Home or online at www.mackeys.ca
