Obituary of Muriel E. Cowie
Muriel E. Cowie, age 95, passed away peacefully, on September 24th, 2022.
This determined, resolute, and steadfast lady left us in the middle of hurricane Fiona; which was exceptionally fitting for her. Muriel lived a spirited and adventurous life with her own unique style and flair. An acclaimed dancer, she performed for troops along with her step-father Don.
Within her curious zest for life and adventure she discovered powder puff racing and that love of speed never left her. More so, it also enabled her to build a life and career, with her husband,Sam. She was immensely proud of the successful car dealership they had in Halifax. Their love of travel provided an opportunity for them to see various countries around the world; creating great friendships along the way. Muriel was introduced to golf by Sam, becoming an avid golfer herself, as well as past president of Oakfield Golf and Country Club. Both her and Sam enjoyed many years of golfing here, in Nova Scotia and Barefoot Bay, Florida. A self-taught artist whose beautiful landscape paintings brighten many of her family’s homes. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and everyone who knew her.
Muriel was predeceased by her husband Sam, son Kenneth and nephew Stewart. Survived by daughter-in-law, Irene, (Kenneth); grandchildren Shawn (Shelley); Laura (Dave); great-grandchildren, Alexander, Zachary and Keelin. Sister Jacquelyn, nieces, Michelle (Steve), Christiana (Joseph), Calene, Heather, along with great nieces and nephews, Alyssa (Kyuho), Sam, Isabella, Tyler; along with Jeremy, (Lindsey), Lee and Gary and great-great nephew, Oliver.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022 at 11:00 with the Rev Marion Conrad officiating. This is being held at the J Albert Walker Funeral Home, Herring Cove Road, Halifax. Private family interment to follow reception.

I am so sad to hear of Muriel’s passing . She was a very sweet and kind lady . I will miss doing her hair . My thoughts are with the family .
