Obituary
With great sadness we announce the passing of Leslie Winston Douglas Thorne at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 18, 2022. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Richard and Myrtle (Pike) Thorne. Les was best known for his sense of humour, he was always up for a laugh. He was constantly looking for his next poker game. Les worked as a meat-cutter for over 40 years at Perry’s Market before retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69. Les is survived by his loving wife Lorna Thorne ( Brigley); his son Mark Thorne; his daughters: Nadine Brewer, Nancy Burchill (Charles), Rosalinde Thorne (Mike Smith), Joanne Wilson (Steve), and Angela MacKay (Terry); his brothers: Philip Thorne, Eugene Thorne; his grandchildren; Nick & Zack Brewer, Vincent Thorne, Charles & Stephen Burchill, Amanda Stevens & Jordan Thorne, Lenny Drew & Alec Thorne, Tyler Thorne & Austin Poley; his five great-grandchildren; as well as by many extended family members and good friends. Besides his parents, Leslie was predeceased by his brothers: Bill, Dick, & David Thorne; and by his sisters: Norma Sambles, Shirley Adams, June Goss, Connie Murphy, Carol Grey, and Nancy Levine. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). Due to the ongoing pandemic, the visitation and celebration of Leslie’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a local Food Bank would be appreciated. The family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Sarah Caines, Dr. Ginette Griffin, Dr. Emily Love and all the nurses on 5A South for their amazing care for Les.
