Fahy William Joseph 2022

William Joseph Fahy, 88, of Montreal, QC passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 21, 2022 after a difficult battle with colon cancer.
William was born on June 17th, 1934 to Daniel Fahey and Celia Gill in Dunally, Peterswell, County Galway, Ireland. William immigrated to Canada in 1954, marrying Anna Keely (County Galway, Ireland) in 1961 and soon after starting a family. William was an energetic individual and a firm believer in hard work. He began his 47-year career with Merck in 1956, and remaining committed to that ideal, retired at the age of 69 in 2003.
William spent many an hour and day celebrating his Irish heritage through social club involvement and Irish music and dance in Montreal. He was also a passionate and proud speaker of the Irish language and enjoyed speaking Irish to family and friends. A social gambler, he took delight in analyzing the horse races and knew how to place a good bet or “punt”.
William is predeceased by his mother, Celia, his father Daniel, and his brothers and sisters Steven, Patrick, John, Matthew, Kate, Margaret, Bertie and Laurence. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Anna and his three children Frances (Charley), Kevin, and Veronica (Vincent) as well as his sister Molly. He also leaves behind a beautiful granddaughter Meaghan (Brandon) and countless other family members in Ireland.
