Nancy Elizabeth Wells 2022

Nancy Elizabeth Wells passed away peacefully on September 4, 2022 at the age of 85, in Toronto. She is survived by her partner, Alex Ross, his son Piotr, and by her 2 sisters Joan Beaudin (Lord) in Red Deer, Alberta and Diana Zeggil (Fred) in Stittsville, Ontario and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Myrtle Wells in Winnipeg and by her brother Richard in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Nancy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, May 3, 1937 and grew up the youngest of four children in East Kildonan, Winnipeg. She was very close to her sister Joan who fondly remembers the times they shared with their parents and grandparents growing vegetables for the Victory Gardens, learning the life-long love of knitting, days filled with Sunday school, church groups, and girl guides and sharing many of the same friends. She and Joan often traveled together, even visiting Diana and Fred in Fort Churchill in 1954.
Nancy began a career in teaching and taught some years in England where she pursued her love of travel throughout Europe. She loved to research and later completed a Library Science degree at UBC in Vancouver. She spent some years in Montreal where she eventually met Alex Ross who would become her life partner for close to 50 years. They later moved to Toronto where Nancy worked many years as a librarian with Price Waterhouse.
Nancy enjoyed many hobbies in her youth- horse riding, archery, and music. She loved playing the guitar and singing at coffee houses in the 60s and her nieces and nephews loved listening to her play and sing. Nancy had a beautiful voice and she continued to sing with choral groups in Toronto. She also instilled a love of reading in her nieces and nephews and always sent them lovely books at Christmas.
Nancy and Alex shared a passion for the outdoors, taking part in nature groups, gardening, canoeing, camping and travelling together to many parts of the world, as far away as South America.
Still they were always there to celebrate family reunions and special anniversaries with her sister Joan at Rocky Mountain House Alberta, visits with Diana in Winnipeg and brother Richard’s family in Pittsburgh and wherever life would take them. Nancy was always smiling and calmly listening with interest to everyone’s stories and encouraging them to be themselves.
Sadly Nancy was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease but was blessed with the loving care and support she received from Alex during this struggle in later years. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all of her family, friends and all who knew her. Rest In Peace , Dear Nancy, you will forever be in our hearts.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Nancy Elizabeth Wells 2022..
