Glen Mary (Coombes) Shanks of Listowel, and formerly of Midhurst, passed away suddenly at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 29, 2022, in her 82nd year.
Beloved wife of the late Gordon Shanks.
Dear mother of Lori-Lyn Vale (Harry), Stephaney Stone (Stan), Paul Shanks (Karen), and Jennifer McEachen.
Nana of Kate Stone, Lindsay Stone, Cale Shanks, Jennifer Shanks and Sydney McEachen.
Sister of Shirley Barnett.
Glen was born in Fort Smith, NWT and was named after the doctor that delivered her – Dr. Glen Urquhart. Glen was raised in Ottawa and subsequently moved Barrie. She married Gordon on July 17, 1960.
She enjoyed being the central figure in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Nana was known for being a perfectionist. She held very high standards and her true passion was entertaining friends and family.
A private family service will be held with interment at Midhurst Union Cemetery, with a Celebration of her Life being held at a later date.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Lupus Foundation of Ontario may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
