À la mémoire de
Muriel Lawson
14 mars 1941 –
9 septembre 2022
Muriel Lawson passed away peacefully on the 9th September 2022 at the age of 81 in Burlington Ontario, a result of the combination of arthritis, chronic pain and Parkinsons. She is survived by her husband Alex, daughter Fiona, and grandchildren Ewan and Elise. She met her husband while climbing in Scotland. A lover of nature and outdoor life, skiing and sailing, she was also game to embark on adventures such as sailing the family boat to the Caribbean, or driving through central Australia in a beaten up old panel van. However, periodically she would stop to smell the roses and her favourite phrase was “How wonderful it is to do nothing and then to rest afterward”
Graduating with a science degree in Scotland, she pursued a technical career in Australia and Canada, but her versatility became evident when she switched to financial planning through her love of math. The artistic side came out in her hobbies of painting, playing the piano, and gardening. What a wonderful companion to have over 60 years.
She accomplished so much, all while being a wonderful mother, an inspiration to the next generation, and a sounding board to many. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Royal Botanical Gardens where a memorial tree is being dedicated to honour Muriel. You can donate online using the following link, specifying Muriel’s name: www.rbg.ca/donate-online/ or call 905-527-1158 ext. 293.
Alternatively, there is also a tree being dedicated in BC, where her grandchildren are, and you can donate there in support of the VanDusen Botanical Gardens: bit.ly/VanDusen_MurielLawsonTribute
