Obituary of Joan Card
CARD- Margaret “Joan” (nee Willson) of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the age of 82. Predeceased by her beloved husband John “Jack” Card (2016). Joan is survived by her loving children Mitch (Miriam) Card of Cambridge, Steve (Deb) Card of St. Thomas, Chris (Lisa) Card of St. Thomas, and Jo Ann Card of St. Thomas; by her grandchildren Cree Card (Dale), Dillon Card (Susie), Tanner Card (Page), Keenan Card, Danielle Card (Justin), and Jackie Kyle; by her great grandchildren Chaes, Brayden, Kyren, and Cordelia; by her two special nieces Lori and Linda; and by her many other family members and friends. She is also loved and remembered by her best friend of seventy-two years, Carolyn Costin. Joan was the last surviving member of her family. She is predeceased by her parents George and Bernice Willson, and her four brothers and two sisters. Joan worked at the Willson Nursing Home in St. Thomas, and later at Therm-O-Disc. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at the funeral home on Friday September 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm. A private family interment of ashes will take place in the St. Thomas Cemetery-West Ave. If desired, donations to Dr. Michael Strong-ALS Research, or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.
