Obituary of Jack Manners
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Manners at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
Loving and devoted husband of Vera (Vicki) for 76 years, and proud father of Joan (Doug Stafford), Sandra (Robert Palmese), and Steven.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren, Catherine Stafford (Eric Plamondon), Jamie Stafford (Tracy Morgan), and Laura Stafford, and six great-grandchildren, Bryen Hobbs, Shanna Hobbs, Jackson Stafford, Ryder Stafford, Logan Stokes, and Scarlett Stokes.
Predeceased by his parents Henry Harker Nicholls Manners and Annie McKillop, his twin sister Mona Manners, sisters Nina Young, Rita Johnstone, and Sheila Egery, and brother Ronald Manners.
Born in Montreal, Jack, a signalman in the Canadian Army, met Vicki, an ambulance driver in the British Auxiliary Territorial Service, while serving in England during WWII.
He worked for the Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada for 38 years. A keen golfer and an enthusiastic player of poker, cribbage and games of any kind, Jack and Vicki enjoyed travelling and spent many happy, active years in the Morningside retirement community in New Hamburg, Ontario, their seasonal home in Nokomis, Florida, and leisure properties in the Eastern Townships and Vermont.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7 at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, in remembrance of Jack, please make a donation to your favourite charity.
