Louise Batut 1944 2022

Obituary of Louise Batut
BATUT, Heather Louise, (born Nov. 16th 1944) peacefully passed at Chapman House Residential Hospice on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Louise Batut of Oliphant and formerly of Toronto was born in Vernon, B.C. Cherished Big Sister of Venessa Morley and her husband John of Barrie. Dear Auntie Louise to Megan, Leah and John. She will be missed by many friends and neighbours within the community.
Louise, knowing from a very young age that she had passion for interior design, petitioned the school board to be the first female accepted into the trades program. She started her career drafting for local architects in Vancouver after graduating high school. At 18 years old she moved across the country, on her own, to Toronto. After a brief marriage in her early 20’s, Louise focused on her career, travel and volunteer work. She was a proud advocate for the Big Sisters of Toronto and was even featured on Cityline with her little sister Venessa with whom she remained close and was part of Venessa’s family for over 30 years.
Louise loved the outdoors and moved to Oliphant to be closer to the Bruce Trail. She also loved her cats and had many over the years, most recently her beloved cat Abby. She continued her volunteer work with the Home Builders Association, Habit for Humanity and much more. Louise was a strong independent woman, with an amazing sense of humor and will missed greatly by so many.
Predeceased by parents Isabelle (nee Oliver) and George Mercer.
