Douglas, Maureen (Newman)
1949-2022
Village of Aspen Lake, Windsor Ontario
August 26th, 2022-Maureen (Newman) Douglas left us for her Heavenly Home, to be received into the loving arms of her identical twin sister Madeline Jessop, her parents Albert and Mary Newman, and other deceased beloved family members.
Maureen was a life force, with glistening leprechaun eyes that lit up the room and touched all within her gaze. Her dry wit, and laughter challenged and teased any nonbeliever to the possibilities of playful imagination. There really was a Santa Claus and Easter Bunny in Maureen’s world. She spoke often of her conversations with Jesus and the Angels.
She loved to sing and dance. Her joy was contagious. Her simplistic view of the ‘crazy’ world, brought all noisy chattering to full stop. In Maureen’s words: ‘just try to get along’.
Maureen’s ability, to adapt to life’s challenges and circumstances, was herculean. Through her own experience. She became a self appointed guardian, watching over those less fortunate with a feistiness an fierce loyalty.
She leaves behind her Aspen family, also Compassionate Care Providers, and Administrative Staff, in the Lasalle Neighborhood at The Village of Aspen Lake. Maureen is survived by the Peters Family, the Jessop Family, her sister Mary Wellwood, and sister-in-law Gertie Hyrniuk. And other extended family members.
Cremation has taken place-with a private burial at Windsor Memorial Gardens. With special thanks to The Cremation Society of Windsor & Es County.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Maureen

  1. Aunt Angela and members of the Peters family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time . I was sorry to learn of Maureen’s passing. I have many fond memories from my youth of the wonderful summer visits made to Windsor and the good times shared with my cousins Maureen and Madeline… God Bless
    Hugs to all ..
