Obituary of Tom Jepson
A bright guiding light and brilliant mind has left us far too soon. It is with broken hearts the family of Thomas Edwin Jepson announces his passing on August 29, 2022, at home in “Gondola Point” after a valiant battle with NHL cancer this past year.
Tom’s memory will live on through his loving wife & real estate partner Sandra, and with the immense pride he had for his children Son-Jesse (Kim), and Daughter-Chelsea , his adoring Grandchildren: Ethan, Jasper, Cole, Briar and Liv, who were the apples of his eyes and have brought him so much love & joy! Also his Siblings: Brothers Milt (Phyllis) -Florida, Kenneth (Lynn)- New Hampshire, Sister Judith (John) -Florida, Sister-in-law Susan- Vermont (predeceased by brother Raymond in 2019), his lifetime high school best friend Jack Young- Vermont, And his many loving nieces, nephews & their children from both the Jepson & Stevens Families.
Tom’s devotion to his Family had no limits he was our Family’s North Star – our “Rock” . Throughout the years, Tom took care of his family in all of these roles: Teacher, Mentor, Tutor, Chauffeur, Advisor, Investor, Gardener, Woodworker, Labourer, Basketball/Baseball Coach, Boating-Tubing Captain, Conservationist, Engineer, Surveyor, Sign Installer, encouraging the family to use their ideas & vision to be budding business entrepreneurs, and to work hard to accomplish all things. He was just so giving, selfless, and always wanted to help others struggling. Tom will be remembered for his strength, humility, sharp wit, and great sense of humour. Tom said he never needed to go on a Vacation as he just enjoyed his every day puttering at the Farm with his many projects (close to all the Grandkids), feeding the birds, woodworking, growing vegetables, berries, & cut flowers to surprise his Girls.
Tom grew up on a dairy farm in Castleton, Vermont where he first learned his hard work ethics, which he displayed always throughout his whole life in whatever he did. After Graduating from the University of Vermont, as a Mechanical Engineer, Tom hitchhiked across Canada, then chose the Town of Sus, N.B. to love and settle in Canada, due to the beautiful country scenery & people, and its resemblance of his Vermont life. Tom worked as a Professional Engineer in NB in Civil Engineering starting with the “Village of Quispamsis” in the late 70’s and finally retiring from Godfrey Associates Consulting Engineers in 2000. After Tom’s retirement his passion became the development of land & subdivisions, with his real estate partner & wife, and with his keen eye and knowledge for future developments, he continued this right through to the time of his death working on his Poley Mountain Development. Tom served on Quispamsis Planning Advisory Committee for a number of years and really enjoyed his years coaching at QMS alongside his longtime basketball friends.
Tom loved his warm sports of Basketball, Baseball, and Bowling throughout his whole life whereby he made the best, loyal friends who carried him through his hard fight & journey this past year. Tom will be ensured now that his three Grandsons will carry on his passion for these much loved sports in the future. His two precious Granddaughters have developed their own sports interests with their Volleyball & Boxing, as well as their loved Camp Glenburn tales which Tom will be sorry to miss hearing about. Tom loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting games & tournaments all over the Province. He was their number one fan & ensured there was always a treat involved at the end of each practise or game.
Thank you to all the loyal friends for your weekly visits, help, support, manpower, transportation help, and reliving of the ‘Glory Days’ of the Provincial Masters & Grand Masters Championships. Tom received his special wishes this year-to come home for the summer and was so happy to attend the last KVHS Jr Varsity Basketball Game with Cole, to attend the Under 18 Red Sox’s AA Baseball Games with Jasper thanks to the help of his dear friends! Thanks to all of you who helped give Tom such pride & joyful moments to cherish & enjoy in his last days!
Special Thanks to the whole KV Extra Mural Team who helped so much with Tom’s care at home (especially Nurse Tracey H), Support Worker- Joanne Martin, & during May-the wonderful Palliative Care Unit for your ‘old fashioned’ nursing care. Thanks to Dr. M for being our health care advocate and for being there for us both! To all our family, friends, & neighbours who rallied with help and support this year, it was so greatly appreciated! Arrangements are under the care of the Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home and with respect to Tom’s wishes there will be no Funeral Service or Visitation. A “Celebration of Life” Party will be held at Tom & Sandra’s beloved Farm- 6 Meenan’s Cove Road, Quispamsis on Friday, September 02, 2022, from 2:00-4:30 pm- Bring a chair! Donations in Tom’s memory can be made to KV Extra Mural, SJRH Palliative Care, or to the KV Food Basket.
