With sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph Johannes van der Vegt
April 27, 1930 – August 26, 2022 born in Zwolle, Netherland. Beloved husband of Alida (van Dijk) for 65 years. They travelled together to start their life adventure in Canada in 1957 immediately after they married and never left each other’s side. Dearest father of Maria (Wally), Margaret (Grant), Joseph (Kelly) and predeceased by daughter Yvonne (2020). He leaves a family legacy of 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was truly a family man and generous friend, who was always there for anyone who needed his help. A man of many trades and talents who could build or fix just about anything. Throughout his life he was a devout Catholic and believed that no matter what life dealt him that he was safely in God’s hands. He was peacefully called home in the early morning hours. Loved and missed by his family. Cremation will take place this week and a private committal service will be held at a later date.
