Donald (Don) Robicheau
March 27, 1930 – August 27, 2022
Robicheau, Donald (Don), age 92 of West Chezzetcook. It is with heavy hearts we his family announce Don’s passing at home on August 27, 2022.
Born in West Chezzetcook, March 27, 1930, he never lived more than a half mile from the house he was born in. He was the youngest child of the late Alfred and Mary (Faucher) Robicheau. Don is survived by his daughter Glenda Henneberry (Gerry) of West Chezzetcook, Grandsons Anthony Cole (Rebecca), Dartmouth, Jonathan Cole (Amy), West Chezzetcook, Sheldon Cole (Holly), CFB Gagetown, Andrew Cole (Kelsey), CFB Esquimalt; his precious great grandchildren Cassie, Isabella, Weston, and Preston; sister Elsie Dillman, West Chezzetcook; sisters in law Edna Warnell, Joan McGregor, Barbara McGregor, and Pauline McGregor; several nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents Don was predeceased (2020) by his wife and soul mate of 66 years, Marion (McGregor); son in law Donald Cole; brothers Arthur and John; sisters Marie and Nora.
Don was a hard worker, first going to work in his early teens. He held different jobs over the years, working at Fairy Aviation for over 15 years, where he made lifelong friends. He was a waiter, labourer, heating and air conditioning assistant, finishing his official working days with the Halifax County School Board driving school bus. He continued to work hard around home and lending a hand to others. When his grandchildren were young and a toy broke, they would set it aside until Puppie came to visit, because they were certain he would be able to fix it. Most of the time they were right he could.
He will be fondly remembered by friends and family as the person to turn to if something needed a quick fix, or if you were looking for an odd part, screw or clamp, there was a very good chance he had one in the garage, shed or basement.
Don had a love for country music, he was always ready for a dance, he sang, played guitar, mouth organ, and jews harp. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Resting at Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home, 5 Cow Bay Road.
Don was a devote Roman Catholic, very proud of his Acadian Heritage, and was heart broken when his beloved church St. Anselm’s was closed unexpectedly, he never really got over it. For that reason, both visitation and funeral will be held in Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm Wednesday August 31; Funeral 11 am Thursday September 1, Cory Lunn officiating. Burial in St. Anselm’s R C Church Cemetery, 7045 Hwy 207, West Chezzetcook. Flowers are welcome.
Thank you to his grandson Jonathan and his wife Amy, for the care and support given to Don over the past few years, and especially in the past few weeks enabling him to remain in his home.
For those who wish to do so donations in Don’s memory to the Chezzetcook Lions Club, 89 East Chezzetcook Road, East Chezzetcook, B0J 2L0, or charity of choice would be appreciated by his family.
