Obituary of Gordon David Oakes
May 26, 1963 – August 21, 2022
It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Gordon Oakes. Gord lost a hard-fought, 3-year battle with glioblastoma on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
Gord leaves behind his wife Teresa, Sons, Kyle, and Ryan, and Daughter Ashley. Gord also leaves behind his Mother and Stepfather, Dena and Neil Ratledge; Father and Stepmother David and Vivienne Oakes; his Brother Lorne; Uncles, Bruce Hamilton, and Bill Oakes; Aunt and Uncle Donna Ratledge and Bruno Sperling; Mother and Father-in-law Patricia and Robert Gusella; and Brother-in-law David Gusella.
Gord was predeceased by his beloved infant son Aaron, his Grandparents Doreen and Josef Horyna, William Hamilton, Beatrice and Frank Oakes, and Eric and Barbara Ratledge.
Gord was born in Calgary, AB, and spent time living in Australia, returning to Calgary in 1976 to attend Woodman Junior High and then EP Scarlet. He played cricket in Australia and Calgary, and was a member of the championship-winning junior teams in both countries. He was also head of Cricket Canada in Alberta and mentored our future and current stars of Cricket Canada.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.calgarycrematorium.com. The family would like to extend their thanks to all of Gord’s Doctors.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gordon
