Norman Bruce Nystedt June 3 1945 – July 27 2022

Bruce was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba to attend school. While attending school he met his high school sweet heart, Lorraine and later they married on June 29, 1963. Lorraine and Bruce have 3 daughters, Gaylyn (Fred), Kathy, and Carol (Marc). They have 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Bruce thoroughly enjoyed spending time with and seeing his family. He was always intrigued with his family’s well-being and wanted to know what they were aspiring to be when they grew up or started a new career.
Bruce was baptized September 22, 1957 and Confirmed May 3, 1964.
Bruce took his electrical apprenticeship in Transcona, Manitoba. He worked at the CN until 1978 and then moved to Victoria, BC with his young family. He worked as an electrician with Sooke Forest Products until it closed down, and then he got a position with BC Ferries.
Bruce and Lorraine were able to enjoy many good years of retirement together. They are each other’s better half and they are a timeless reminder of what love means. After conquering cancer in 1999, Bruce and Lorraine decided to buy a motor home to travel to Yuma, Arizona for 20 years. They loved dancing and meeting new people when they were travelling. Bruce would take any opportunity to play guitar and start a jam session. Bruce’s passion was playing his guitar. Whenever he had an opportunity to play with friends or for family, he would pull out his different types of guitars and play a tune. His passion evolved from playing into making guitars. He would spend hours in his shop creating and building them. He was a hard-working man, who would always lend a hand to anyone that needed help, or lend a tool from his shop. Bruce was very charismatic and thrived on making a connection with anyone who wanted to share and have a laugh. He had a great sense of humour and would joke around. His positive attitude was what kept him optimistic about any obstacle that was thrown his way. Seeing everything as the glass half full rather than half empty. Bruce was always looking toward the future and wanting only the best for the one’s that he loved.
Bruce had a positive outlook and a strong will until his last day. Only a few short weeks after finding out that he had cancer for the second time, he peacefully passed away. Bruce will be dearly missed and remembered by everyone that knew him. He is in Heaven with Jesus and he will always be smiling down with love.
“I am the resurrection and the life,” says the Lord.
“He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever
lives and believes in Me will never die.”
To God alone be the glory
