Obituary
The family of Peter Demitt announces his peaceful passing on his name’s day, August 15, 2022. Peter, born Panagiotis Demitropoulos, came into the world on February 25, 1924 in the small village of Kastraki, in the prefecture of Korinthos, Greece, to Anastasios and Georgia Demitropoulos. He was the eldest of four siblings along with his brothers George, Nicholas and sister Elleni.
Peter is survived by his ever supportive and loving wife of 68 years, Carol, son Anast (Diane), son George, and the light of his life, his granddaughter Carolyn. Also surviving are his sister Elleni Pouros, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tony and Vasiliki Papas, sisters-in-law Zoe Demitropoulos and Elleni Demitropoulos, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and Greece. He was predeceased by his parents, an infant grandson Peter, and, in the last ten months, by his brothers George and Nicolas.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt and sincere thanks to Dr. Jed Shimizu for his compassion and care. Words cannot describe our gratitude and appreciation for the care that the professional and attentive staff at Wentworth Manor have shown to Peter, where he resided with Carol for the past four years.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent SW) on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Philoptochos Society of the parish of St. Demetrios.
