Barry Heighton 1941 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Barry” Heighton, on January 11, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on May 18, 1941, he was the son of the late William Howard and Johanna (Carragan) Heighton.
Barry served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 24 years in the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was a proud service member. He was a Legion member for 48 years.

Barry had a mistress, she was a 42 foot boat known as the ALOSA. He thought he was the Captain, but Mom certainly was the best first mate for over 30 years of their boating history. The Saint John River was Dad’s happy place, and his love of being on the water kept him young at heart.
Barry will be greatly missed by his beloved spouse Louise (Lambert) Heighton; son Leigh Heighton(Bea); daughters Carol Heighton, Shelley Brown and Jacqueline Tobin; grandchildren Devon Brown (Carmen King), Wayne Heighton, Emily Noble (Nathan), Ashleigh Sullivan (Patrick), Bradley Howe (Nadia), Bentley Howe, Natalie Howe, Michael Tobin and Meghan Tobin; great grandchildren Owen and Levi Noble; Aunt Virgina Cunningham; as well as several cousins and extended family.
We would like to express our thanks for the treasured gift the Ambulance attendants gave us on Christmas day. Thank you! We would also like to thank the Doctor’s in the CCU unit for their care and kindness and in doing everything they could for Dad.
A gathering to celebrate Barry’s life will be held at the Hazen Centre on August 21, 2022, from 1 – 3 pm. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Oromocto Pioneer Gardens. For those who wish, donations in Barry’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Barry
