Peggy A. Pate – 93 years young of Knoxville went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. The trumpets sounded when she was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. She had been a faithful and dedicated member of Riverdale Baptist Church. Before she retired, she worked at a finance company. She had an unending love for her family. Peggy loved watching all sports and could be heard clapping rhythms and yelling when her favorite teams played well. She also loved playing Bingo with her Halls Senior Center “family”. They became wonderful and caring friends with whom she enjoyed taking bus trips to the casino in North Carolina. Peggy had a caring spirit and a generous nature for helping people and would very often give people something that she knew they liked. At Christmas, mom made the “best” peanut butter fudge. Peggy always had a smile on her face and never complained. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. “Mom, you were and still are loved and will be sorely missed. We will see you again someday, and oh what a celebration that will be!”
Preceded in death by first husband, Doug Prickett; second husband, Earl Pate; parents, Lindell and Lola Burnette; sister, Frances Atchley; brother, Ralph Burnette; and son-in-law, Tom Liford.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Brenda Liford and Kathy Kennemore; sister, Billie (Gil) Bowman; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Patty Strange and Linda Watson. Thank you to everyone who cared for Peggy at the Waters of Clinton and Oak Ridge Medical Center.
