Obituary
It is with very sad hearts and gentle relief that we announce the passing of Larry Davis on July 31, 2022.
Larry leaves behind his “Sweetie Pie” Sharon, with whom he had been married to for 62 years this August. He will also be forever missed by his daughter, Shelley Davis Forman (Ken), grandson Tanner Forman (Mikayla), son Glen Davis (Jody and family), sister-in-law Kaye Bratz and nephews Dwight Bratz and Ken Bratz.
Larry was born in Lethbridge, AB in 1934. With his parents Norman and Helen (Vi) Davis he moved to Pincher Creek to start elementary school. It was in high school at Matthew Halton where he met Sharon, undoubtedly on the basketball court or the dance floor.
Larry will be most notably remembered by long-time Pincher Creek folks for his over three decades of steadfast work at Davis Men’s Shop. You could always tell when there was a formal event in town because fellas would be stopping by the store and house after hours to get Larry to tie their neckties. Larry was always a sharp-dressed man.
Westcastle Ski Hill and the Pincher Creek Golf Course were both important places for Larry. He loved running the rental shop and managing the golf course. He and Sharon were also partners running the Dance Hall in Waterton Park.
Larry loved sports! He was an avid baseball and softball pitcher. He loved skiing and told stories of skiing on Haig and Gravenstafel before Westcastle even existed. He and Sharon shared a fantastic trip to Austria, skiing with friends. Larry also loved the game of golf. Larry and Sharon had many good friends and there was always a gathering or stories of their shenanigans and good times. After succumbing to his mobility issues, Larry loved to watch and follow along with the sporting events and activities of his cherished grandson Tanner. Not too many weeks went by without sports conversations and banter between Larry and Tanner.
Larry was an incredibly fun-loving, smart and likable man. Although we can’t imagine our lives without him, we are at peace knowing he is no longer suffering from the horrific auto-immune disease that took our Larry, Dad, and Gramps from us. We love you!
In honoring Larry’s wishes, no service will be held.
Flowers are gratefully declined and instead ask that if you wish to make a donation in his name, that it be made to the Pincher Creek Humane Society:
