Obituary
Peacefully on Wednesday August 3, 2022 with his much loved Mary by his side, Ronald Prout of Owen Sound.
Ron was a dedicated educator starting his teaching career in Wiarton before moving to Owen Sound to teach at Strathcona Senior School and the former OSCVI and ending his career at Holland Chatsworth School. Ron shared his artistic talents with many young students, encouraging them to strive for their potential. An enthusiastic collector of model trains, cars, boats, and planes and Ron also admired and owned antique cars.
Ron will be missed by his wife Mary Wilson Prout, his travel buddy Dave Green and will be remembered by Dave’s wife Lois. Also missing and remembering Ron will be Liz and Rick Graham of Owen Sound, Janet, Henry and Debbie Vandersteen of Goderich and Mike and Carrie Vandersteen of Hamilton. Many other friends will remember and miss Ron for his kind and thoughtful ways – always the gentleman! Ron is predeceased by his son John Stephen Prout, his parents Gertrude and Charles Prout late of Owen Sound and his in-laws John and Phyllis Wilson late of Goderich.
According to Ron’s wishes, cremation will take place, but no visitation or funeral service is planned.
If so desired, memorial donations to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter, to any animal rescue/humane society/organization or to the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. No online condolences are requested – messages may be sent directly to Mary Prout.
A LIFE WELL LIVED!
