Ricky Gerard Toney
1960-2022
Ricky Gerard Toney
– age 62, of Annapolis Valley First Nation, Cambridge 32,
Kings County, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in his home
community.
Born in Berwick, he
was a son of the late Lawrence Sr. “Chubby” and Mildred
“Minnie” (Smith) Toney. During his early years, Ricky worked
at the Aldershot and Greenwood Base as a cook. Those who knew Ricky,
knew him to be a kindhearted, soft and quiet man. Ricky kept to
himself but always enjoyed time with his family and friends,
especially his brother, Randy, whom he spent most of his time with.
Ricky also loved to pick blueberries and May flowers. He had the smile
of an angel.
He is survived by
sisters, Janette (Lloyd) Peterson, twin sisters, Anita Toney and
Marilyn Kennedy and Charlotte (Derb) Fralick; brothers, Randy Toney
and Gary Toney, all of Annapolis Valley First Nation; sister-in-law,
Marlene Toney, Annapolis Valley First Nation; brother-in-law, Keith
Julian, Millbrook First Nation, 40 nieces, nephews, great nieces and
great nephews, with one on the way and one great great nephew, baby
Koden.
He was predeceased by
a sister, Laverne Julian; brothers, Jerome Toney and Lawrence Toney
Jr.
There will be no
visitation, at the family’s request. The funeral service,
and a reception, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 in
the Bingo Hall in Annapolis Valley First Nations, Cambridge 32, Father
Craig Cameron officiating. Burial will take place immediately
following the service in the St. Bernadette Catholic Church Cemetery,
Cambridge 32. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes
Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White
Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
