Alice D Robinson 1935 2022

Alice D. Robinson of St. Stephen passed away peacefully at
the Charlotte County Hospital on July 30, 2022 after a period of
declining health. Born in Calais, Maine, she was the daughter of the
late Henry and Alice (Hamilton) Lee.
She is survived and greatly missed by her daughter Ann
(Steven Backman) Robinson of St. Stephen, daughter Amy (Jeremy
Rattray) Robinson of Woodstock, grandsons Dr. Samuel Backman and Liam
Rattray. She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew. In
addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bruce
Robinson (1986), her sisters Catherine Hatton (2008) of Charlotte,
Maine and Marcia Smith (2021), of Woolwich, Maine.
Following the death of her mother after Alice’s
birth, she was raised in Baring, Maine by her great uncle and great
aunt, Charles and Edna Tyler. Even though her sisters lived with their
grandparents, they still had many fun adventures together in Baring.
Alice graduated from Calais Memorial High School in 1952. Upon
graduation, she entered Holy Rosary commercial school in St. Stephen
and completed a business course. Over the years, she worked at
Grant’s, St. Croix Electric, and finally at Eastern Maine
Electric Cooperative as a billing clerk from where she retired in
2000, with over 35 years of employment. She experienced a lot of
changes in technology during her years at EMEC but embraced them all
head on.
Alice married Bruce Robinson and they had two daughters.
After being widowed at the age of 51, she fully took on the role of
single parent. She was always up for a last minute trip to Bangor,
making a cake for a birthday, or carting kids to meet up with friends.
Alice became fondly known as “MomMom” to many. She loved
doing all the daily word puzzles in the Telegraph Journal and could do
them with ease. She enjoyed riding around the “four towns”
to listen to classic country music on the satellite radio. Watching
Jeopardy and Coronation Street were a must.
Alice was always supportive of her family in their education
and career choices. She was very proud of Ann and Amy but was
especially proud of Sam when he graduated from medical school this
May.
