Karen Elizabeth Blackburn Matzig of Simcoe, Ontario
July 22, 1949 – July 30, 2022
Unexpectedly in her 74th year. Survived and deeply missed by her children Catherine (David), Peter-John (Tara), Erika (Edward), Christopher and their father John as well as brother Barry Blackburn. Predeceased by her parents Lyle and Ada Blackburn. She was incredibly proud of her children and adored her grandchildren Derk, Margaret and Steven. Mrs. Matzig taught generations of Norfolk County elementary children. In her retirement she dove deeply into genealogy research. And was an active member of the United Empire Loyalists’ Association, Grand River Branch. Karen loved her “ladies who lunch”, was a keen traveler and enjoyed anything Parisian. Always immaculately dressed, she could engage you hours-long conversations over tea and a cigarette about almost anything. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate and remember her. Arrangements entrusted to The Ferris Funeral home, Simcoe (519-426-1314). Online condolences at ferrisfuneral.com
