Obituary of Donald Richard Leir
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don the morning of Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, of 51 years.
Predeceased by his parents, Christian and Elizabeth Leir; his brothers, Alfred and his wife Lillian, Karl, Victor, Edward, and Herb; his sister, Ida and her husband Louis Penno, and sister Helen and her husband Ron Wilson. Don is survived by his sister Myrna and her husband Keith Shipley; sisters-in-law Elsie, Joyce, Adaline, and Rose Anne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was born on April 24, 1947, in Grenfell, SK, the youngest of nine children. He worked at Stelco Fabrication for 14 years, and another 24 years at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Don enjoyed going to the Golden Sunset Club to play cards and socialize with all his friends, loved watching the Roughriders and Blue Jays, and getting together with his “University group” for early morning coffees. He was a chartered member of the Pilot Butte Lions Club and helped with the rodeo.
A Funeral Service for Don will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2015 4th Avenue North, Regina, SK on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ted Giese with a reception to follow.

  1. Our sympathy Marlene, family and friends. A strong voice, a voice for many has been stilled but we will cherish our special memories left behind by Don, he stood up for his beliefs and for many others. Rest in painless peace Don. He will be missed by many especially in our community.

    I was so very sorry to hear of Don’s passing. I have many happy memories of ball games and good times. Don was always friendly and caring and a mainstay of Pilot Butte. He will be missed by all
