Deveau, Albert (Al) Joseph
December 3, 1943 – July 24, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Albert Deveau at the age of 79 at the QE-II in Halifax on July 24th, 2022, with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Bernard and Bernice Deveau.
Born in Meteghan, Nova Scotia, Al tried his hand at many occupations from running a pig farm and importing cars from Montreal, to opening his own pool hall. While in Meteghan, he also shared his musical talents as a member of the band The Clare Tones. In the early 1970s, Al moved to Dartmouth where he would meet his wife of nearly 50 years, Rose (Foley) Deveau. Again, Al was always looking for a new business venture. He opened Mom’s Building Supplies, several furniture shops, recording studio, auctions, developed land, and built homes, including their forever home in Porters Lake. He also played in the Kevin Beanland Show. He was a very hard-working man who loved his family unconditionally and would be quick to tell you that of all of his accomplishments, none were greater than his children, who he often referred to as his “best medicine.” Al had a strong belief in God and was committed to his faith.
Al will be dearly missed by his loving wife Rose, his sons Allan (Diane) and Chris (Hilary), his stepdaughter Shirley (Chuck) Foley, as well as his grandchildren Zachery, Christian, Melissa, and Dustin, his great-grandchildren Phoenix, Jaden, and Jasmine, and his close friend Hayden Stover, and many others. He is survived by his siblings Irenée, Martha, Earnest, Herman, Leonard, and Marguerite, all of Meteghan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Anne Marie and brother Camille.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 p.m. on July 30th at the Meteghan Lions Club at 313 Maxwellton Road, Meteghan Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Association. All who are wanting to pay their respects are welcome to attend.
