Brian E. Zavitz, 72, died Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 after a heroic three-year long battle with cancer. Profound thanks goes to the Princess Margaret doctors, nutritionist and nurses for their support of Brian as an outpatient. As well, thanks goes to the Bridgepoint professionals for providing pain free care for Brian as an in-patient, six weeks prior to his passing.
He leaves behind his beloved Life-Partner of 30+ years, Mary Ellen Edwards as well as family (Zavitz, Lehti, Una) and friends in Toronto and from around the world.
Brian was born in London, Ontario. He had many fond memories of his attendance at a one room country schoolhouse. When the family moved to Toronto, he enjoyed his time at Jarvis Collegiate. In the process of earning a Bachelor of Science degree in photography from Rochester Institute of Technology, he was given the opportunity to participate in a Study Abroad program to Finland. This would become the beginning of his love for travel.
Brian’s training in chemistry, design, colour and composition as a photographer contributed to his work as a contractor, and as a website designer for his many co-productions including the Zavitz Family Website and the Travel Companion Exchange Website. His final co-production — “Brianzavitz.com” — was completed shortly before he passed. This website is an on-line photo gallery of his best work over a half-century period of time.
Brian was an active member of his church and was a respected youth leader, committee worker on many different committees, Board member and Reader.
A virtual (only) Celebration of Life will be taking place on Sunday, August 7 at 1:30 pm (Toronto, Ontario — Eastern Daylight Savings). Please check back here for the Zoom link to the event.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Brian E Zavitz 2022..
