Bruce passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Bluewater Health in palliative care in his 75th year. He was surrounded by love with his wife, Janice and children Lisa, Jay and Scott. Bruce was born on December 12, 1946 in Fort Williams Ontario. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy where he began his love for the water and diving. He was stationed on the HMCS Cornwallis and then the HMCS St. Laurent. He also had the privilege of serving on the HMS Royal Yacht Britannia with the Queen Mum. After his naval career, he made his way back to Point Edward, married Janice Wilkins, the absolute love of his life and was a devoted husband for 47 years. He became an insulator and worked at Imperial Oil until he retired. After retirement Bruce loved to travel with Janice and they made many trips to Las Vegas. After his career, he became an avid model railroader and made many friends from all over, while attending train conventions. One of these friends was Frank, who became an important part of the family. Frank was Bruce’s closest and dearest friend and did so much for Bruce and Janice, especially as his health started to decline. Bruce’s family was his greatest treasure and nothing meant more to him than his children Lisa Vautour (Ted), Jay Peachey (Jennifer), Scott Peachey (Lesley), and Shauna Blakeney (Ross). He was so proud of all of his children. Bruce had a deep love for his grandchildren, Meighan Wales (Taylor), Katelyn Pedersen (Nathan), Alix Lisabeth, Ashley Peachey-Roane, Nathan and Natasha Peachey, Lennon Peachey, Katelyn and Ashley Morash. And he truly loved all of his great grandchildren Caleb, Zeke, Kaiden, Brinley. Bruce was raised with 10 siblings Bill, Joyce, Clark, NormaJean, Don, Brenda, Norman, and Doug. Predeceased by his parents George and Jean Peachey, brother Garnet and sister Mary. A special thank you to Dr. Maddison and the Palliative team, VON nurses and the PSW’s, and the community paramedics. Following Bruce’s wishes, cremation and a private funeral service has been arranged. A celebration of life is open to extended family and friends who would like to come and raise a pint in Bruce’s honour on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 2 PM until 6 PM at Imperial City Brew House. Charitable donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Diabetes Association and The ALS Society of Canada will be appreciated (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Bruce Peachey December 12th 1946 July 22nd 2022..
