Obituary
It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Merle James Martin, who passed away on Friday July 22, 2022, at his residence in Rosedale at the age of 84.
Merle was born on April 14, 1938, in Woodstock NB to the late Donald and Marion (Dalling) Martin.
He is survived by his wife Gloria (MacDougall), children: Tony Martin (Sara), Tim Martin (Katrina) and Nancy Hall (Steven), grandchildren: William, Hayden, Grace, Nathan and Thomas and sister Yvonne McGetchie.
MJ/Grampy Merle/Dad will be remembered for many things: his ability to have a conversation with absolutely anyone and to piece their family tree together at least 3 generations back, his lifetime dedication to the Boston Red Sox, his passion for the PC party and interest in politics, his love of chocolate and routines, and for serenading his family with old country music songs (usually after a beer or two). He also loved to tease and torment everyone that he could, especially unsuspecting children and neighbors at the lake.
While he may have struggled to find the actual words to express it, it was evident that he loved his family dearly and his heart grew three sizes every time another grandchild was born. He took great pride in each of them and their accomplishments.
The family would like to thank Extra-Mural and Dr. Stocek for their support with his care in his final months and days.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 26, 2022, at the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB from 1 to 2:45PM, with service following at 3:00 PM from the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at St Mark’s Cemetery in Jackson Falls.
If so desired, donations to St. James Church or Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
