Passed peacefully away in the
presence of her loving family on July 22, 2022 at St. Luke’s
Home at the age of 90.
Predeceased by her husband of
more than 50 years, Johnny Follett; parents Cornelius &
Adelaide Parsons; sister and best friend, Mae Flynn; brother Lar
Parsons; mother-in-law Mary Collins (John); brothers-in-law Nick
Flynn, Michael King, Joe Collins, Dick Power, Seb Walsh, and Clar
King; and sisters-in-law Donna Parsons and Marg Power.
Mourning her loss while
celebrating her life are her devoted children Carmelita (Kevin)
Traverse, Brendan (Carol) Follett, Randy (Tina Riche) Follett, Damian
(Cheryl) Follett, and Shawna (Kenny) Bulger; lights of her life
grandchildren Curtis (April), Amanda (Jonathan), Corey (Marilyn),
Krista (Matthew), Kristopher, Robin (Adam), Teigan, Taylor, Sean,
Lauryn and Anna; Great-grandchildren Ella, Jenny, Maddie, Sierra, and
the latest joy, first great-grandson, Dorian.
Also mourning her loss are
her loving sisters Chris (Omer) and Veronica; brothers Con (Mary),
Walter (Anne), Gerry (Evelyn), Martin (Carol), and Al (Annie);
sisters-in-law Annie (Power-Parsons), Marie King, Jose Walsh and Beth
Higginson; loyal nieces Connie Parsons and Ann Marie Mcgrath; a large
circle of nephews, nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews, especially
her little hero Aaron, and many other relatives; as well as close
friends Teresa Duke and Marguerite Ryan.
Heartfelt gratitude to the
staff of Unit 3 at Lions Manor, Placentia for the love, care and
compassion shown to Mom over her three and a half years’
stay, and more recently, to the staff of Fairhaven and Inglewood at
St. Luke’s Home for providing such fine care and comfort in
her final days. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Power of Placentia Health
Center.
Mom’s entire senior
life was spent giving of herself through volunteering at the Lion’s
Manor, for which she was honoured with the Governor General Caring
Canadian Award. She was also an honourary member of the Star of the
Sea Ladies Auxilliary, a long time member of Placentia Hospital
Auxilliary, a Sacred Heart Parish choir member, and a number of other
community events and organizations. Anyone who knew Mom knew she loved
music, dancing, and a good party, and never missed an opportunity to
get together with family and friends.
Flowers gratefully accepted
or donations may be made in Mom’s name to Lion’s Manor
Recreation Department.
Public visitation at Maher’s
Funeral Home to take place Saturday, July 23rd from 2pm to 6pm,
and Sunday, July 24th from 2pm to 4pm and
5pm to 7pm, with a Vigil at 6pm.
Mass of Christian Burial to take place
on Monday, Jul
25, 2022 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church,
Placentia. Cremation to follow, with inurnment to take place at Dermot
McGettigan Memorial Cemetery at a later
date.
