Jeanne Marie Kerrone (nee Hillyard) passed peacefully on July 16, 2022, in Duncan, surrounded by her family. Marie was born in Duncan on October 6, 1938.
Pre-deceased by her parents Tony and Jean Hillyard, Marie is survived by her loving husband Jim, daughters Kathleen Beaveridge, Linda Wallace (Ian), son Steven Kerrone (Jody) and her beloved grandchildren Justin (Grace), Kayla (Torge), Michael (Hannah), Mark (Alycia), Matthew and Jillian, and great grandchildren Oliver, Henry and Wyatt Kerrone. Marie is also survived by her brother Ken Hillyard (Eileen) and nephews Stuart and Matthew.
Marie enjoyed her career as an elementary school teacher and librarian in the Cowichan Valley, retiring in 2003 as librarian for both Maple Bay and Alex Aitken Schools. Marie’s greatest joy was her family. Grandma and Papa’s home was a place where the grandkids and their friends were always welcome. We were all so blessed to have Marie as our Mom and Grandma and will cherish the many precious and happy memories of summer pool days, helping out with the Christmas Tree Farm and spending time at the family cabin in Mill Bay.
Marie’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Sunridge Place who provided such compassionate and gentle care during her stay there. As well, our thanks and gratitude to Lisa Elzinga, Chris Collins and the many other care givers who provided Marie with such loving and tender care at home.
At her request, there will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Marie’s honour to the Alzheimer’s Society (alzheimer.ca) or The Cowichan Cat Rescue (cowichancatrescue.org).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jeanne Marie Kerrone October 6 1938
