Obituary
Two days past his 70th birthday, and after a truly hard-fought battle with multiple health issues,
Anthony “Tony” Gerard McGraw passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 18,
2022. Tony was predeceased by his treasured parents: Mother, June (Logan) and father Gerard “Gerry”
McGraw.
He leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 46 years, Mary (Morrissey), and his devoted son, Troy
(Tara), and his two precious granddaughters, Blythe and Charlotte. He is survived by his sister Gail Sonier
(Joe), and brother Pierre (Marion), one niece (Nicole) and several nephews (Jeff, Travis, Mitchell, Shaun
and Jamie), aunts (Pat, Betty, and Lillian), great-nieces (Robyn, Kailey and Grace), great-nephews (Logan,
River and Wesley), numerous cousins and several relatives from the Tracadie area.
He was a talented athlete in his younger years, graduating from Simonds High School in 1970, excelling at hockey and baseball, and in later years helped organize a slow pitch league in KV. He then followed a family legacy of being a Moosehead Breweries employee for 37 years and member of union Local 362. There are many stories from Moosehead and his travels with the softball team to Nfld. and throughout Canada. He was nicknamed “Tug” by his softball teammates. He leaves behind some lifelong friends and buddies. Great memories remain from family vacations to Val Comeau, hunting at his camp in Millstream with family, snowmobiling and playing a good game of cribbage. He was also a lifelong member of Saint Joachim’s Catholic Church.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the IV Day clinic at St. Joe’s, and the nursing staff in CCU as well as the attending doctors. An especially huge thank you to all of the nurses on 3CN for their outstanding loving care and kindness towards Tony.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Church, 135 Simpson Drive on Friday, July 22nd at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
